THE MISSION
The Rothko Chapel required a multi-phase restoration and campus expansion for its world-renowned sacred space. The goal was to restore the Chapel itself with advanced climate and lighting systems, while simultaneously expanding the campus. This expansion included a new Administration and Archive building, a meditation garden, a new Welcome House, and a Program Building.
The Challenge
CSP was hired to overcome the highly sensitive nature of the work involving sacred space, spiritual accessibility, and sustainability.
THE STEWARDSHIP
We provided full project leadership including feasibility, design, permitting, construction, and stakeholder coordination.
The Team
Architecture Research Office (architect), Nelson Byrd Woltz (landscape architect), George Sexton Associates (lighting designer), and Linbeck (Construction Manager).
