THE MISSION
The goal was to develop a new 58,000-square-foot, three-story interactive museum. The project required relocating existing exhibits from the Lied Children’s Museum while concurrently developing and fitting out brand new exhibits.
The Challenge
Because this project was added mid-construction to the larger Smith Center campus, it required seamless integration. Furthermore, the museum featured nine distinct exhibits—each utilizing a different exhibition designer and fabricator. Coordinating these disparate teams to ensure the museum felt cohesive was a significant logistical challenge.
THE STEWARDSHIP
We served as the Owner's representative, focusing heavily on aligning the core and shell construction with the broader campus architecture, while simultaneously managing exhibition planning and fabrication.
The Team
David M. Schwarz (design architect) and Whiting Turner (construction manager)
